Valwood Parents Association

The Valwood Parents Association (VPA) would like to welcome you to experience wonderful relationships and exciting volunteering opportunities! The VPA consists of the entire body of parents, grandparents, faculty, and staff at Valwood School. Year after year this organization provides tremendous support in numerous areas at Valwood. In order to continue giving our school this level of support, we need each and every one of you.

We hold three meetings per year; a fall kick-off meeting, a January meeting and a spring year-end meeting. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. The VPA is comprised of four equally vital areas of volunteerism:

Parents Helping Students

Extreme Team Day – an Academic Field Day

This exciting Lower School event provides a priceless opportunity for you to interact with Valwood students. One day each fall students spend a half day working in collaborative groups to solve various fun and hands-on challenges. In addition to sponsoring this event, the VPA provides parent volunteers to serve as “learning or refreshment station volunteers.” VPA volunteers who cannot be present for the event can participate by helping provide refreshments.

Parents Helping Educators

The TLC Committee

The TLC Committee is dedicated to showing the educators and staff at Valwood how much they are appreciated. Each month during the school year, TLC provides a fun surprise for each of the three schools as well as the administration building. TLC acknowledges faculty and staff birthdays with small tokens of appreciation. Also, faculty and staff members and a guest are invited to attend the VPA Spring Auction as the honored guests of the VPA and its TLC Committee.

The VPA Welcome Committee

The VPA Welcome Committee’s sole focus is to welcome families new to Valwood. Committee members host new families at a reception held in the fall. They also contact new families throughout the year to help make them feel welcome, included and part of the Valwood Family.

The VPA Cares Committee

The Cares Committee organizes volunteers to send a meal to a Valwood Family member in need. Whether due to military deployment, illness, or other situation a meal is one way we take care of our Valwood family. Meals can be ordered or homemade.

The Valwood Parents Association Annual Spring Auction

The Valwood Auction is always an exciting evening of fun, food, browsing and shopping. With 12 committees involved in the implementation of this thrilling event, there are many wonderful ways to be involved. Proceeds raised at the Auction directly benefit our most precious resource, Valwood students.
