Valwood Senior Jack Morris Serves as Senate Page on Sine Die

HAHIRA, GA – April 10, 2026 - Valwood senior Jack Morris was invited to serve as a Senate Page for Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones during the close of the 2026 Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly. Morris traveled to Atlanta on April 2, the final day of Georgia's 40-day legislative session, a day commonly known as Sine Die.

This is historically an important and very long legislative day, with the Senate adjourning in the late evening. As a page, Morris served in a runner and shadow capacity for state lawmakers including Burt Jones, Sam Watson, and Emanuel Jones. His sponsor was State Senator Russ Goodman.

Morris's day began at 8:30 am in observation of debate on the Senate floor. At 8:00 pm, Governor Brian Kemp delivered his final speech and thank you to the Georgia Senate. Morris said of the speech, "the Governor's address was a fond farewell, and also a very much state of the state type of address." Morris stayed on the floor of the Senate until its celebratory adjournment at 1:00 am.

Morris graduates next month as a part of the Valwood class of 2026 and is strongly considering Georgia Tech for college following his recent acceptance. He plans to study public policy in preparation for law school and a career in politics. He has been elected multiple times this school year as "President of Projects" by his AP United States Government class.
