Spanish Instructor - Upper School

Valwood School is looking to hire a full-time Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach advanced Spanish courses, including Advanced Placement, and will prioritize instruction conducted primarily in the target language. We seek an educator who understands and values acquisition-based teaching practices, demonstrates a strong commitment to the academic and devlopmental growth of high school students, and thoughtfully incorporates technology to enrich learning. Candidates should also be enthusiastic about engaging in the braoder school community through extracurricular involvement.

Science Instructor - Upper School

Valwood School seeks a full-time Upper School Science instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning in August 2026. This position centers on teaching biology across multiple levels, including Advanced Placement, honors/pre-advanced, and college preparatory courses. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to rigorous, student-centered instruction that emphasizes inquiry, laboratory investigation, and real-world application. The ability to foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with the biological sciences is essential. Qualified applicants will exhibit strong content knowledge, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and support the academic and developmental needs of high school students. Proficiency in integrating instructional technology to enhance learning is expected. 

The ability to teach additional science courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, or Chemistry is preferred. A bachelor's degree in biology, science education, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred. 

Substitute Teacher

Valwood School seeks substitute teachers for the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School on an as-needed basis. 

Substitutes will fill in for regular staff, support daily classroom routines, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for students. 

Responsibilities include supervising children, assisting with instruction, and maintaining a safe environment in the absence of the regular teacher. The ideal candidate follows plans and schedules provided and ensures regular classroom activities are followed.
