Valwood Announces COVID-19 Closure
Dear Valwood Family,
Following Thursday’s press conference by Gov. Brian Kemp that addressed growing concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus, beginning Monday, March 16th, Valwood School will be closed until further notice. We anticipate the closure to be at least three weeks as it will include our Spring Break (March 30th-April 4th). We hope to resume instruction as soon as possible, but the health situation remains fluid, and this timeline is subject to change.
The decision to close school was not easy but we believe this decision is the most prudent step to protect the health and well-being of our students and staff, and that is our highest concern. We understand that these are trying circumstances for students, families, and staff. It is our top priority at all times to make the healthiest, safest decisions for our students, our staff, and our families. The school closures include all school building activities, extracurricular activities, athletics, and trips. During this time, absolutely no staff nor students should report to Valwood’s campus.
We appreciate your support as we work together as a community to move past this pandemic health crisis. We encourage all of our Valwood families to continue following the recommended hygienic prevention methods so everyone can stay healthy and we are able to return to our regular school schedule in a short period of time.
To be clear, there have been no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 at Valwood School. The coronavirus has been a rapidly changing situation, and we will continue to keep you updated on the next steps upon further discussion and guidance with state leaders and public health officials. Updates will be posted on the Valwood website www.valwood.org.
Sincerely,
John L. Davis, Jr.
Head of School
