Valwood wins science olympiad

HAHIRA – Valwood School Science Olympiad won the regional tournament held at Valdosta State University, defeating Lowndes High School, Valdosta High School and schools from throughout South Georgia, school officials said. 

Valwood will now compete in the state tournament to be held at Emory University on March 23. More than 200 teams compete in regional tournaments across the state with only the top 24 teams out of all public and private schools in Georgia qualify for the state championship.

The Valwood Science Olympiad Team is coached by Joy Owens and Brittany Luke. Other team members include Carsen Jane Carter, Country Carver, Haley Taylor and Vann Witherspoon, school officials said.
