A team of Valwood middle school students competes twice each year in the Knowledge Master Open (KMO), a challenging academic competition in which teams of students compete - nationally and internationally - via computer in their own schools. The KMO is a curriculum-based quiz contest that began in 1983 and annually attracts up to 4,000 schools and 60,000 participants from the U.S. and several foreign lands.
