Congratulations to Ensign Slater
Valwood alumnus, Andy Slater '06 graduated in May of 2010 from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine and Environmental Science (High Honors) and was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant JG. Andy serves aboard the USCGC RESOLUTE based in St. Petersburg, Florida.  The Resolute patrols the Caribbean in its mission to combat drug trafficking and illegal immigration along with aiding vessels in distress. In this photo, Andy's mother Dr. Robbie Slater, is installing Andy's new rank under the watchful eye of Commander Sam Jordon, Captain of the USCGC Resolute.

Chad Gallahan '03 married Valerie Haven on July 15, 2011 in St. Augustine, Florida. Chad is the Valwood Middle School Co-Dean. He teaches math and is a member of the coaching staff. Valerie is the Bariatric Coordinator at Valdosta Bariatrics.

Katie Huitt '04 married Mark Vernon July 9, 2011 in Dahlonega, Georgia.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgia Tech in 2008 and a Master of Science in Biology from Valdosta State University in 2011. Katie teaches Biology, Ecology and Environmental Science at Brandon Hall School in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Will Elliott '06 graduated with honors from Wake Forest University in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.  He is in his second year of law school at Wake Forest University School of Law.

Ben Montague '06 is engaged to be married to Caroline Strickland on December 31, 2011.

Rick Coleman '04 and Katherine Dame were married on October 22, 2011.

Thompson Gooding '03 is engaged to be married to Courtney Bonner on May 12, 2012

Will Crane '03 is engaged to be married to Erinn Knight on April 14, 2012 in Atlanta.

Sarah Adler '07 graduated with honors from Georgia Tech in May of 2011. She is currently a the University of Georgia serving as a Program Specialist for the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, Hillel. Sarah is a member of Campus Ministries at UGA and will be leading a group of students to Israel in December.

Darby Gooding '07 graduated from Emory University in 2010 and is currently studying law at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
