Betty Googe Academic Scholarship Program
For over thirty years, Betty Googe taught and led at Valwood School, inspiring a generation of students and teachers with her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to high academic standards. Her work over the past three decades to shape and guide the academic program at Valwood secured the school's prominence as an institution founded on high expectations for all of its students in academics, character, and service. Despite her retirement as Dean Emeritus in 2004, Valwood students continue to benefit from the legacy she has left behind, for her demanding and loving insistence on high expectations and integrity serve still as the foundation upon which Valwood stands today.
It is in honor of this legacy that we have established the Betty Googe Academic Scholarship program. These half-tuition, merit scholarships are available to a limited number of incoming middle and upper school students who have demonstrated high academic achievement and strong character. Googe Scholars whose ongoing work demonstrates a continued commitment to high achievement and integrity will retain their scholarships through to graduation.
