Students Win Azalea Festival Contest
April 2, 2004

Area students were recently invited to write essays or draw pictures describing and depicting Valdosta during spring.  The contest was part of the recent Valdosta-Lowndes County Azalea Festival. A winner was chosen for each grade level among the students who participated county-wide.  Valwood  School was honored by having two winners this year.  Coleman Campbell won in the Kindergarten Division for his creative drawing of a frog in the springtime using his talents (and tongue) to capture a bug in flight for his dinner.  Reynolds Henry won in the Fourth Grade Division with his clever "Springtime in Valdosta" point of view: "In the spring, you can do a lot of summer things you can't do other places.  Springtime in Valdosta is better than most places." ...a direct quote from his entry.
