Valwood Wins First Place in Model United Nations

Valwood School won first place at the Model United Nations Conference held at Valdosta State University on March 19.  The thirty eight student team represented six countries on four different committees including Syria, Canada, Ukraine, Russia, Chile, and The Democratic Republic of Congo.  The conference included ten other schools representing approximately thirty different countries.  The schools competing were from across Georgia including Tift County, Ware County and Vidalia.

Valwood placed first at the conference as the Outstanding Delegation from Syria, represented by Michael Rivera, Channing Mathews, Philip Allen, Andy Slater, Darby Gooding, Sarah Adler, and Janiece Kelly. The Valwood delegation from Russia, represented by Kyle Peterson,Josh Gayre, Dan Frieden, Antonio Cano, Chappell Wolfson, Stephanie Tillman, Lauren Noyes and Ramsey Sumner, received honorable mention.  Valwood also scored as two of the three Distinguished Delegations at the conference as the nations of Canada and Congo, represented by Katie Huitt, Robert Tillman, Daniel Keck, Marcus Keck, Katie Allen, Ashley Eldridge, Kristin Schert, Caroline Gunn, Brandon Bradford and Mary Catherine Mackey.  All the students are looking forward to defending their title next year!
