THE FOUR PUZZLE PIECES OF THE VALWOOD PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The VPA is comprised of four equally vital areas of volunteerism.  Below you will find a description of volunteer opportunities offered in each of these four areas.

Parents Helping Students

Extreme Team Day - an Academic Field Day
This exciting Lower School event provides a priceless opportunity for you to interact with Valwood students.  Students spend a half day working in collaborative groups to solve various fun, hands-on challenges requiring teamwork.  In addition to sponsoring this event, the VPA provides parent volunteers to serve as "learning or refreshment station volunteers" on the day of the event.  VPA volunteers that cannot be present for the event can participate by helping provide refreshments. The 3rd Annual Extreme Team Day will be held in the Fall of 2009 in Rodgers Performance Hall.

• The Valwood School Spirit Store
Volunteering at the Valwood Spirit Store offers a chance to deal directly with Valwood students of all ages.  The store offers school supplies, apparel and spirit items for the convenience of Valwood students and their families. Volunteers are needed to staff the store for designated 2-hour placements during the school day and for selected home athletic events.

Parents Helping Educators

• TLC
This committee is dedicated to showing the educators and staff at Valwood how much they are appreciated.  Each month during the school year, TLC provides a fun surprise for each of the three schools as well as the administration building. TLC acknowledges faculty and staff birthdays with small tokens of appreciation.  Also, faculty/staff members and their spouse or guest are invited to attend the VPA Spring Auction as the honored guests of the VPA and its TLC Committee.

Parents Helping Parents

• The VPA Welcome Committee
The VPA Welcome Committee's sole focus is to welcome new Valwood families.  Committee members host new families at a reception held in the fall.  They also contact new families throughout the year to help make them feel welcome, included and part of The Valwood Family.  This committee works in conjunction with Director of Admission Ginger Holley.

Parents Helping Valwood

• The VPA Spring Auction
The Valwood Auction is always an exciting evening of fun, food, browsing and shopping. With 12 committees involved in the implementation of this thrilling event, there are many wonderful ways to be involved.  Proceeds raised at the Auction directly benefit our most precious resource, Valwood students.  The 38th Annual VPA Spring Auction will be held in May 1, 2010

The Fall Festival Barbeque
Each fall members of our community are invited to attend this festive family event and to join us for the best barbeque in the South.  Our own chef Don Stanley and his crew will prepare the delcious meals.  VPA volunteers are responsible for ticket sales, as well as distribution of meals and directing traffic through the busy Valwood Dining Hall.  Volunteers serve a brief 30 to 45 minute shift.  This event is just one of the many ways that Valwood reaches out to our community.  The 2009 Fall Festival will be held on the Valwood School campus. Date to be announced.
