Challenging, rigorous, demanding, comprehensive, unsurpassed in quality - these are words often used to describe Valwood's academic program. Our exceptional faculty and motivated students achieve great things each day. Graduates are consistently performing well at the colleges and universities they attend. Valwood is a standard bearer in this region for excellence on every level. These undisputed facts echo daily in our halls and in our community. Nonetheless, each year we are thrilled and proud to report the statistics that support these statements.
For example, ten Valwood students have been named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college level Advanced Placement Examinations. AP Scholars are 2009 graduates Jesse Davis, Andrew Hopkins, Carter Karras and current senior Jesse Glassmire. AP Scholars receive grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
AP Scholars with Honor are seniors John Elliott, Anna Jordan, Kelsey Rowland and 2009 graduate Lindsey Megow. This distinction is awarded to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
AP Scholars with Distinction are 2009 graduates Gus Elliott and current senior Katie Querin. These students received an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Valwood's AP students earn college credit and stand out in the college admission process. As a result, many Valwood graduates have begun their post secondary careers as second semester freshmen or sophomores. Motivated, diligent students - going beyond!
