Art Camp

It's time for some summer fun. Come and join us for Valwood Art Camp. We will be painting on some very interesting objects, forms and surfaces. Our 2-D and 3-D creations will be functional and beautiful.
Baseball Fundamentals
Ages: Rising Kindergarten - 8th grade
Enrollment: Minimum 10, maximum 30
Dates: June 16-20
Time: 9:00-11:00

This camp is designed to teach the beginning baseball player the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, base running, and defensive situations. Each day there will be a session of skills and drills as well as game competition.
Basketball Camp for Boys
Ages: Rising 5th - 7th grade
Enrollment: 15 maximum
Date: June 2 - 6
Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Location: Eager Sports Center at Valwood
Cost: $110
Practice both offensive and defensive basketball skills through practice, games, and scrimmages with Coach Hamman. Every camper will receive a camp t-shirt at the end of the week.
Games Galore
Ages: Rising Pre-K - Kindergarten
Enrollment: 12 maximum, 8 minimum
Date: June 16 - 20
Time: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $130 (snacks included)
Have fun with all sorts of games! Campers will be exposed to card/board/active outside games. They will learn how much fun games can be (without a computer.) They will learn the rules, how to take turns, and how to be a good winner and loser! Registration deadline is June 9 at 12:00 noon.
Girls Basketball for All Ages

You've always wanted to play the guitar? Hear's your chance to learn! It's a beginner's guitar camp - No Experience Necessary! Guitars ARE NOT PROVIDED, so you will need to bring a guitar and an eagerness to learn! Sign up for best time for your schedule, either Guitar Camp I or Guitar Camp II.

This camp is designed to teach/refine the fundamentals of golf. Included instruction will be all aspects of the golf swing, including putting, chipping, pitching, "hitting irons" and "hitting metal woods." Campers will need to bring sunscreen, hats, towels, and possibly sunglasses. All other equipment will be provided.
Little Valiant Cheerleading Camp
Ages: Rising PK - 5th grades
Enrollment: No maximum
Date: July 28 - August 1
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Sponsor: Teresa Bailey & Valwood Varsity Cheerleaders
Location: Eager Sports Center at Valwood
Cost: $130
Campers will learn Valwood cheers, dances, and most of all - that "Valiant Spirit!" All instruction will be given by the Varsity Cheerleaders. Snacks will be provided each day. Free t-shirt to all participants.
Lower School Soccer Camp - CANCELLED
Ages: Rising 1st -5th grade
Enrollment: Maximum - 18, minimum - 8

Cost: $110 per week
This camp is a fun way to introduce the game of soccer to those unfamiliar with it as well as enhance the skills of those who have played before. It is designed to teach the basic skills needed to play the game while encouraging team work. Children will compete in teams to practice what they have learned. This is a very popular camp, and early registration is encouraged. Please put t-shirt size on registration form since each camper will receive a Camp T-Shirt.
Middle School Debate Camp
Ages: Rising 5th - 8th grades
Enrollment: Maximum 40
Date: Saturday, June 14
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $75.00
This camp is designed to introduce the beginning-level student to parliamentary debate. While the program is designed for middle school students, rising fifth graders are also encouraged to participate. Students will learn the art of debate in all its forms - setting up a case - harms, significance, inherency, solvency. Also, students will learn the opposition case, such as disadvantage and alternative strategies. We are excited about the 2008-09 year. New area schools are showing interest in having a team, especially Lowndes Middle School. We will probably have at least three tournaments next year for students to participate in. PE Fun and Games
Ages: Rising Kindergarten - 8th grade
Enrollment: Minimum-10, maximum 164
Dates: June 23 - 27
Times - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Location - Eager Sports Center
Cost - $125 per week
The PE Fun and Games Camp is designed to allow for the maximum amount of fun while learning different skills and getting exercise. Some of the games will include kickball, volleyball, 4 square, jumping rope, hula hoops, badminton, crazy relay races, and basketball. There will be prizes, surprises, give-aways and refreshments each day. Taxi service home each day on the Valwood school bus will be available for an additional charge. Coach Mike Patrick and Coach Brett Martin have a combined 30 plus years of educating and coaching young people and are trained in CPR and AED defibrillator use. Don't pass up this opportunity for your child to have fun, learn teambuilding skills and sportsmanship, and get some exercise this summer.
Tennis Skills for Beginners - CANCELLED
Ages: PreK - 3rd grade
Date: June 9-13 and June16-20 (2 week session)

Would you like your child to learn the basic skills required for playing tennis? This camp will incorporate hand/eye coordination, tennis terminology, hand placement on the racket, swing techniques, all in a fun learning/game environment. If you are interested in early exposure for your child to the wonderful sport of tennis please come. We will provide drinks and a small snack daily. Your child will need to bring a racket (preferably their size.) These can be purchased at Wal-Mart or any sporting goods store. We will provide the balls. Tennis Camp
Ages: Rising 4th - 9th grades
Enrollment: Minimum - 3, maximum - 6

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Location: Hathcock Tennis Center
Cost: $100
This camp is designed to teach/refine basic tennis skills. This will include the grip, ground strokes, serving, as well as how to build forehands and backhands. Campers will also be instructed in how to play the game and how to move on the court. Campers should provide their own tennis racket as well as sunscreen, hats, towels and sunglasses.
Volleyball Camp - CANCELLED
Ages: Rising 4th - 6th
Enrollment: Minimum: 10 Maximum: 24
Dates: June 16 - 20

Cost: $100
Serve, bump, set, spike! Learn the basics of volleyball and have fun playing variations of the game. We'll learn some skills and also get silly using different types of balls.
