The Present

Since its founding, Valwood School has held itself to high standards. In the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the board room, Valiants have worked tirelessly for the last thirty-plus years to build an exceptional school, to create an extraordinary community, and to produce incomparably talented and well-prepared graduates. The past three decades have chronicled the steady rise to prominence of one of the finest independent schools in the region, one committed to the noble work of educating the brightest students in the area for generations to come.

In the fall of 2002 Valwood took occupancy of its new, state-of-the-art campus and in so doing marked a critical milestone in this journey. The school's new campus offers an ideal setting in which to make real the school's three-part mission of academics, character, and service in the lives of young people. This project and the ongoing capital campaign that has made it possible represent a courageous step into the twenty-first century and stand as testament to our shared faith in the work of the school and its bright and vital future.

The Future

Valwood School has reason indeed to be proud. More important than accomplishment and celebration, however, are opportunity and vision: the new campus and the exceptionally strong academic, athletic, and enrichment programs it houses have put Valwood on the threshold of a new century and given us all the chance to touch in lasting and powerful ways the lives of countless children. These opportunities carry with them a great responsibility to continue to dream and work hard, to commit ourselves daily to the school and its future. Valwood's prominence has come in large part from the faith, vision, and generosity of those who over the years have been willing to invest in the future of the school, to give in sacrificial ways to ensure that children for years to come will have an exceptional place to learn and grow. These investments yield a lasting and rich return, one we see each May as graduates of the school move on to college and to life well prepared for the challenges - be they academic, moral, or personal - that await them.

The work of building an extraordinary school goes on, and the need for continued investment is real. As you can see, we are closing the gap on our original campaign; but with the enduring spirit of Valwood School at our backs, we are continuing to look ahead, to dream big, and to push forward. We do so with courage and conviction, and we ask you to join us. Together we can ensure that the coming three decades will be as rich and meaningful for Valwood School as the last three have been.
