Leah Catherine Swindle '01 is engaged to Dr. Joel Abraham Blake of Missoula, Montana. Leah Catherine graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory University with a Master of Science in Nursing and is a Nurse Practiioner in Missoula. Dr. Blake is a Board Cerified Diagnostic Radiologist with Missoula Radiology. The couple plan to be married on Saturday, May 29th at the Park Avenue Methodist Church in Valdosta.

Last April Jeffrey S. Chiu '93 became a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He practices general mediation and other legal matters related to construction. He is a registered mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Jeffrey is the president of KYCA, Inc. Designers and Consultants in constructions with offices in Valdosta and Atlanta. In addition to being an attorney he is a practicing and registered Professional Engineer. Jeffrey holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech as well as both a Jurist Doctorate degree and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University.
Micah Shapiro '94 and his wife Ashley announce the birth of their daughter, Emma on July 2, 2009. Emma was also welcomed by big sister Madison and big brother Craig.
Sara Bowers '01 and Sean Tintle were married on December 20, 2008 in Greenville, South Carolina. Sara graduated last May from the Emory University School of Medicine with her Doctor of Physical Therapy. She is currently practicing with Gentiva Healthcare. Sean is an IT engineer and director for Tech Systems, Inc. Sara and Sean live in Smyrna with their miniature dachshund, Buffy.
Roy Copeland '01 graduated from the University of Southern California in 2005 with a degree in Political Science. He is currently a Financial Services Representative for SunTrust Bank in Valdosta.
Leah Catherine Swindle '01 received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. After working a year in the emergency room at the University hospital in Augusta she attended and graduated from Emory University last August. She earned her Master's degree in nursing and is Board Certified as a women's health nurse practitioner. Last summer she moved to Montana to work with the only gynecology/oncology surgeon in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.
Rachelle Copeland '03 plans to graduate from the University of Hawaii in December of this year with a degree in English.
Maggie Carroll '02 is engaged to Michael Ferguson and will be married in April of 2010. Maggie will graduate from Valdosta State University with a Masters degree in Speech and Communication Disorders in December of this year. Michael received his degree from Mercer University and is a pharmacist in Lake Park.
Jolie Hyatt '02 recently opened the Kaleidoscope gallery in Valdosta. The gallery features "Beautiful art by American artists," and is filled with art by regional artists and features pieces by many local artists. Additionally, Jolie and her mother, portrait artist Fay Bridges Hyatt, are also bringing artists to Valdosta to teach classes in the gallery. Kaleidoscope also hosts events in conjunction with Valdosta's "Art After Dark," a monthly evening focusing on the Arts in Valdosta.
Molly Roan '02 joined the Peace Corps and will be working in Mongolia for the next two years. She is currently in Mongolia learning the language and will be given her assignment later this summer.
Alice Thrasher '02 and Josh Popielarz are engaged to be married. Alice is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a degree in History. She is currently working as a Retail Sales Representative for Verizon Wireless. Josh is a Staff Sergeant C130 Loadmaster in the Air Force, currently stationed at Moody Air Force Base.
Last May Rebecca Stevens '04 graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree of Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology.
Jessica Marquardt '05 graduated for Georgia Tech University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Architecture.
Channing Mathews '05 received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a certificate in Human Development and a minor in Spanish from Duke University in May. She is traveling to the Dominican Republic this fall where she will teach English Language Arts to eighth graders at the New Horizons Bi-lingual school in Santo Domingo.
Ben Perry '07 was recently named a Trojan Ambassador for Troy University where he is a sophomore marketing major. As a Trojan Ambassador, Ben will join other students serving as both an official host for the university and a student recruiter. Ben is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association and the Table Tennis Team.
