The Model United Nations is a program that educates students about the United Nations and other contemporary international issues. The Valwood Model UN team is composed of students in grades 8-12 who are interested in world politics and the social sciences. Students are introduced to world issues and cultures while learning important debate and organizational skills within a simulated United Nations framework. During the year the students are assigned a country to represent. They research the country, its culture, politics and policies and compete annually at a regional Model UN conference. At past competitions, Valwood students have been recognized with Honorable Mention and Distinguished Delegation Awards.
