MATHCOUNTS is a mathematics enrichment program in which middle school students are coached to develop skills for solving challenging problems. Students then compete on teams in a regional tournament against other teams from area schools. Valwood students meet weekly to prepare for the South Georgia tournament held in February. In 2003, Valwood placed first in the region and advanced to the state competition in Atlanta.
