Resolved: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its public health assistance to Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Valwood debate team consists of students in 9th - 12th grades, meets weekly to research and prepare for tournaments. Please contact me immmediately if you want to compete.
We welcome all to come and participate on the Valwood Debate Team. We have a thriving program, we travel in the region (both Georgia and Florida), and are currently looking for students to represent our team at the 2008 GISA Region debate championships

The 2007 MS Debate Meet with Genesis was a great success. There were about 60-70 people in attendance including debaters, parents, coaches, and visitors. We are hoping for another debate sometime in January. Thanks to Deb Cox for taking team and individual photos. Photo will be uploaded soon.
The Next MS debate tournament is being re-scheduled for sometime in February. We want to accomodate our students for the Valwood science fair.

Season Notes:
The US debate of Arsalan Zahid and Kyle Schelley WON the Orange Park High School debate tournament on Saturday, November 3 in Jacksonville, FL. IN addition, Arsalan was named the tournament's top speaker. This is especially noteworthy since this was their first tourney EVER. Great job Valiants!
The region meet took place on Saturday, January 12. Valwood school placed second overall and thus qualifies for the state tournament in Mercer
Valwood Teams have qualified for the State tournament by finishing in the top two teams in the Region for the past 8 years straight and have finished no lower than third at the G.I.S.A. AA State tournament in each of those years. We have been the region champ for 2006 and 2007 and were the state champion runner-up the last two years in a row. VAlwood has a thriving MS debate program that does parliamentary style debate. This is a good prep for policy debate which comes later.
Along with being members of the G.I.S.A., Valwood is also a member of the Georgia Red Clay NFL District and students are able to earn points towards NFL degrees.We plan to travel to Florida and other nearby states this year for competition.
