John Elliott has been named Valwood's STAR Student for 2010. The 18 year old senior earned the title based on his 2009 SAT scores. John selected as his STAR teacher, Valwood English teacher Peter Allen. Mr. Allen who has been chosen as a STAR teacher six times in his career, said it is always an honor to be selected.
John hopes to major in either history or political science and has applied to 10 colleges including Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Dartmouth.
In addition to academics, John plays soccer, participates in mock trial, Model U.N., Science Olympiad and is a member of the Interact and Literary clubs at Valwood. John is active in the youth group at First Presbyterian and serves as the moderator of the Flint River Presbytery. He is the son of Walter and Laura Elliott of Valdosta.
