The Valwood girls basketball team defeated Strong Rock Christian 47-35 in the first round of the GISA Class AA state tournament on Wednesday at Middle Georgia College.
Hope Jackson scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Lady Valiants. Courtney Harris had 10 points and six steals. Heather Hathcock added eight points and eight rebounds.
Valwood(13-9) will play either Curtis Baptist or Flint River Academy in the second round on Friday at 7 p.m. at Middle Georgia.
