The Valwood wrestling team finished 8th overall and first among A-AA Schools at the 23 team Trinity Christian School tournament held on January 9th. Of the seven teams that placed higher, at least three will be moving from GISA to GHSA classification next year. Griffin Allen placed third and John Brooks Akins, Taylor Hawthorn, Allan Taylor, and Wyatt Harris all placed fifth in their respective weight classes. Approximately 300 wrestlers participated in the tournament.
The Valiants will wrestle in Statesboro this weekend. Valwood will host another dual match on Tuesday the 19th with the Region competition being held in Americus on Thursday the 21st.
