Valwood's wrestling team won two of three dual matches on Saturday at the Battle of the Boro tournament, held at Bulloch Academy in Statesboro.
The Valiants routed Mill Spring Academy, 84-12, lost 42-38 to Mount de Sales Academy and defeated Windsor Academy, 42-30.
Valwood's J.B. Bahnsen and Taylor Hawthorn both won all three of their matches. Bahnsen is now 10-0 this season, while Hawthorn is 10-1.
Last week, Valwood won three of four matches at Deerfield-Windsor Academy in Albany. The Valiants defeated Deerfield-Windsor, 48-30. They lost 42-33 to Southland Academy, the defending region champions, but routed Tiftarea, 54-12. Valwood won its final dual of the night, 54-12, over a combined Sherwood/Westwood team.
John Akins and Bahnsen pinned all four of their opponents in the duals in Albany. Akins earned all four of his pins in the first period. Wyatt Harris also won all four of his matches. Thomas Hawthorne earned his first two wins of the season, and Cameron Feinberg also earned his first win.
Valwood's next matches will be at home on Jan. 7 against Sherwood, Tiftarea, Southland and Deerfield.
