We are very proud to announce that Valwood School has been named a 2004 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for its Lower School program.  The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors academically superior public and private schools whose students score in the top 10% on state assessments.  According to Secretary of Education Rod Paige, recipients of the award serve as national models of excellence from which others can learn.  Blue Ribbon schools will be honored at a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. later this fall.  Independent schools are nominated by the Council for American Private Education.  Valwood School is one of only four independent schools in the state and one of only 11 independent schools in the nation chosen for this honor.
