Eight middle school students participated in the South Georgia Chapter of the MATHCOUNTS competition at Mathis Auditorium last week.  The competition was sponsored by ASA Engineering & Surveying, Inc. and included seven area middle schools.  The Valwood School team placed second overall with three students, Viktor Graczyk, Courtney Harris and Alex Waldron placing in the top ten.  Courtney Harris and Alex Waldron were invited to compete in the State competition to be held in Atlanta later in March.  The other team members were Matthew Barnes, Eliza Elliott, Elizabeth Jordan, Amber Rassatt, and Caroline Scruggs.  The team was coached by Jennie Eidson.
